Tori & Kittens!

Tori likes to play with the kittens!  I've finally captured it on film.

Tori is one of those "Awkward" cats that sort of spazzes out sometimes when she plays.  She gets so excited about playing that she freaks herself out and runs away as fast as she can!  But then she'll come back and be ready to play again shortly!  It's actually very adorable.  I will attempt to capture this on film as well.

Tori will be at the adoption event at the Petco in Gravois Bluffs Plaza in Fenton this Saturday from 11am-4pm.  This adoption event will be our first "Special Needs" cat adoption events.  Only the rescue's special needs kitties or kitties who have been in the rescue for over a year will be there.

Tori has been in the rescue for more than a year and she is "special needs" since she needs medicine.  Many of the kitties there need to go to homes where they will be the only cat in the household.  While Tori would definitely prefer to be an only kitty, as you can see in the video, she does perfectly fine with other cats so long as they pay her the respect she feels she deserves.  lol

With a dominant female of our own in the house, she and Tori clash at times as I have mentioned before.  Though, honestly, it is my cat that starts many of the spats by trying to tell Tori she is not welcome in "her" house.  Ever since we moved in, this cat just knew that we bought it for her.  She always felt cramped in the apartments before and enjoyed finally having plenty of room.  She tolerates the kittens barely, but does not approve of Tori one bit.  For Tori's sake I would love to find her a new home as soon as possible.  Tori does not appreciate being stalked throughout the day and being told she can't lay somewhere that the other cat has already claimed.  :(

Tori is such a wonderful cat.  She deserves an amazing home where she can be the alpha female and get lots of love, attention, and play.  :)  Come see her this Saturday and see for yourself how wonderful she is!!

New Fascination

Hi there!  I'm here to report that Tori has developed a fascination with faucets!  She will now jump on the sink and purr, waiting for you to follow her and turn the faucet onto a drip so she can attack, bite, and lick the water.  :)

Sorry the video didn't turn out the best--there is so much light and white in the bathroom where I filmed her.  But Tori only drinks out of the bathroom faucets since she knows she is not allowed on the kitchen counters and is a perfect girl about following the rules.

With that, I will leave you to watch the video because Tori is licking and rubbing all over my hands, begging for my attention.  :)

Tori & Kittens

As I've said before, Tori does well with all the kittens in the house because kittens instinctively know that if the other kitty is bigger, you do what it says.  :)  Tori is bossy with the kittens when they try to steal her food or surprise her with a sneak attack, but she never hurts them.  She even likes to play with them at times, chasing them around and wrestling!

Our newest kitten, Artemis, is a super friendly and feisty girl that loves everyone and has become Tori's favorite playmate.  Since Tori can play a little rough, she sometimes scares the other kittens--and ESPECIALLY our older 2 cats who think she wants to attack them.  Artemis may be a tiny thing but she can dish it out too and she and Tori love to play together.  I've tried several times to catch them on video but they always stop as soon as they see me going for the camera.  lol  One of these days I will catch them at it and post it!  It's too cute watching them stalk one another and wrestle.

As I've said many times before, Tori would do great in a home with other cats so long as the other kitties are laid-back, let her be the boss, and still have some play in them.  :)  Tori would do perfectly fine as the only cat in the household, but if she was with another cat or especially a kitten (who would grow up knowing Aunt Tori is the boss), she would do perfectly fine.

I must say that I would love to see Tori to go a new home soon since my older female has taken to stalking Tori and starting fights with her.  :(  Nothing serious, but I feel bad for Tori because it upsets her a lot.  I feel bad for my older 2 kitties too because they obviously don't appreciate Tori being here.  The kittens, they begrudgingly accept because they can more easily forgive them their transgressions because of their age, but not so much with Tori.  It's not a constant battle by any means and I can leave them all along in the house for extended periods without worry, but every so often, usually in the evenings, there may be a small fight.

I cannot stress enough what a fun, loving, and unique cat Tori is.  Her adoption fee is $75 and she will come with a supply of her medication.  Please contact me (Tammy) with any questions or if you would like to meet this awesome girl.  :)  She can't wait to find her forever home where she won't have anyone picking on her.  Please email tammy.mueller@stlpetrescue.com or comment on this post.  :)

Tori's belly!

Hello there!  Just a quick post.

Did you know that this is Tori's favorite way to lay?  ON HER BACK!  She can often be found lounging around on her back, waiting for a belly rub.

When she sees you coming, if she doesn't rub against your leg, she will flop over on her side or back, roll around on the floor, and ask for a belly rub!  Just when you thought she couldn't get any cuter, right?  :)

Tori the Social

A big HELLO! from both Tori and myself.  Apologies on not posting for so long.  There's been a lot going on lately to keep me busy, but Tori has been by my side (and often in my lap!) the entire time, keeping me company and cheering me on.  :)  She's such a good girl!  I can't believe she hasn't found her forever home yet!  She is such an awesome, loving kitty.

Not to mention, fluffy!  Just look at this paw of hers!!

She has these great big, meaty fluffy paws that are ADORABLE--just like every other part of her.  :)

Even now, as I write this, she is curled up next to me sleeping.  She is definitely a cat that loves to be around her people.

Today is Labor Day and I had some friends over for a BBQ.  When we went to eat, sitting around my dining room table, she parked herself in a chair and insisted on joining us.  Nevermind the fact that my friend brought over their dog who Tori has never met--she didn't care one bit.  She would not leave us at the table--not because she wanted our food (she doesn't beg for people food at all!) but because she wanted to be with us SO BADLY.  We had to pull up a stool just for her to sit on with us because as soon as we'd put her down from one chair, she'd climb up in another one.  :)

As I said, Tori didn't mind the other dog at all.  This dog is used to cats but can be energetic, but Tori didn't care.  She hissed and smacked the dog's nose once (no claws out) and that settled that!  Then Tori didn't have a problem rubbing against the dog.  She even laid down with the dogs close by, in her usual position: belly up.

You will often find Tori laying on her back where ever she is.  She does enjoy belly rubs, and will flop over onto her side or back if you walk towards her.  She gets so happy she just plops over and says, "PET ME!"

Tori is such a great girl.  I just can't say it enough.  Everyone that meets her thinks so.  Won't you meet her and see what everyone else sees?  :)

Long time, no post!

Apologies for not posting recently.  Rest assured, Tori is her happy, spunky self as usual.  :)

This past week, we have had the pleasure of watching a friends' dog.  Tori was a little cautious at first and hissed a few times at her, but once she realized the dog was friendly, she was rubbing all over her just like she does with Toby.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any good pictures of her and the other dog to share.

I did find out one interesting thing about Tori tonight, though.  She does NOT appreciate being furminated.  lol  If you don't know what a Furminator is, click here: Furminator.com

Some very good news this week has been that our older adult female cat seems to have come to terms with Tori.  They now peacefully coexist together, proving that Tori does just fine with other kitties.  My female and Tori seem to both have equal dominance in the house, so I suppose they've both met their match.  lol  No violent fights happened and they rarely laid a paw on one another.  Mostly it was just stares and the occasional hiss and "scream".  All in all, this is nothing compared to some of my previous foster kitties.  :)

As I've said before, Tori would be wonderful company as an only kitty in the house, as a companion to someone with dogs, or even for someone with a young kitten or older cat--just expect that Tori is going to try and be the "boss", but she is not aggressive about it, just insistent.  :)  After a few weeks, equilibrium will return to your house once they've settle the new pecking order.

Tori will be at this weekend's adoption event and would love it if you came to visit her.  She gets so bored sitting in her cage all event but loves when people come by to pet her.

We are also having a bake sale outside the Petco on Saturday and Sunday, from around 10-4pm.  Feel free to stop by and pick up something sweet and yummy!

More updates of Tori will be coming shortly.  Hopefully the next post will be announcing her adoption!  :)

Thanks for reading!

Tori & Toby

I was finally able to capture Tori loving on our dog Toby today when we got home.  She was very happy to welcome him back by rubbing all over him!  Sorry the video isn't the best.  I kept trying to back away to get a good picture but Toby kept following me and Tori after him.  lol

If you have a cat-friendly dog, Tori would fit right in with your family!

Tori says no blog entry today!

I'm still waiting for good photos and video of Tori and our dog Toby but whenever I catch them in the act, they stop and come to see me and my camera.  One of these days I'll catch them and post them.

In the mean time, you can see what Tori does when she really wants attention:

Parks herself right in your way!  lol  As I type this now, she has politely moved to the arm rest.  I had to give her lots of pettings as a bribe, of course.

Tori was at the adoption event today and lots of people stopped by to pet her and say how pretty and fluffy she is.  She is definitely an eye-catcher!  Unfortunately, we had no adoptions at all today.  I guess no one was in the market for an awesome kitty!  Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

If you're in the market for an awesome kitten, teenage, or adult cat, stop on by the Gravois Bluffs Petco tomorrow between noon and 4.  We are there every weekend, Saturday 11-4 and Sundays 12-4.

Bossy Tori & the Kittens

Tori can be a bit dominant with other cats.  She likes to be the "top cat" and to have the last word on things, so-to-speak.  This tends to rub other adults the wrong way, unless they are very laid-back--especially when she gets playful and they think she's attacking them instead of initiating play, as my two cranky Siamese seem to.

But Tori isn't out to hurt anybody.  Occasionally there is some hissing and swatting but Tori really means no harm.  She's just voicing her strong opinions.  :)

All this being said, Tori does great with kittens!  Since they are younger, they look to their adult peers for guidance.  Tori is a great role model.  She bops them on the head every now and then to set them straight when they get out of line (like trying to steal her food right out from under her).

But, as you can see, she's actually pretty good friends with them--Joxer in particular (on right).  He's a laid-back male kitten but has lots of spunk to him as well--just like Tori.  They play together sometimes but I haven't been able to catch it on film yet.  I will succeed one of these days and post it here.  :)

If you think you might be interested in making Tori a member of your home, rest assured, she can be bossy but she's not mean.  She has been instrumental in helping to socialize all of our foster kittens and make sure they go to their new homes with proper kitty manners.  :)  If she grows up with the kitten, she will be good friends with it for life.  But she does well with laid-back adult cats that let her be boss just as well.

And, did I mention that Tori does great with dogs?  Perhaps that will be the topic of my next post.  Until then!

Tori's Medicine: Easy as Pie!

Hello!  Welcome to Tori's very own blog!  Tori is an awesome, sweet, beautiful, fluffy kitty that is looking for her forever home.  She has been in the rescue for almost a year now and the reason she keeps getting passed up is because she is "Special Needs".  But there's no reason for that to scare anyone away, as I will show below.

Tori has a condition called Mega Colon that will require daily medication for the rest of her life.  But don't let that scare you off because her medicine is not costly and is SO SUPER EASY to administer.  To show how easy, please watch this video I made:
